Atlanta Police Officer
found not guilty of Rape
- Suspended Atlanta Police Office Wayne Longe was
found not guilty by a jury in Fulton County when a
woman he arrested claimed that instead of taking her
to jail after he arrested her for drinking in
public, took her to Anderson Park and raped her.
Attorney Patterson asserted Officer Longe did have
sex with her on duty but she agreed to have sex with
him. At trial Attorney Patterson surprised the
Prosecutor and the jury when he showed the jury an
$1100.00 check that his client gave to the victim in
a civll lawsuit that was settled between them. After
the jury heard that she never told anyone about the
check, they took just one hour to find Officer Longe
not guilty of all charges.

Police Admit to Using Excessive Force
- Two police officers are under investigation after
dash cam video caught them using excessive force on a
teenager. It all began on East Ninth Street in West
Point last month after 17-year-old Ciara Flemister
began recording the arrest of her cousin. Police
were arresting him after complaints of loud music.
The officer's dash cam video shows Flemister walking
close to where officers had detained her cousin. You
then see an officer raise his elbow and then slam it
onto the teen's head. Seconds later, the video shows
a second officer grabbing Flemister's hair and
yanking her head down as she screams in pain.
Flemister told Channel 2's Tom Jones that she
doesn't remember much of the force. Cato said both
officers were given written counseling and ordered
to undergo additional use of force training. He said
he thought the discipline was fair. Flemister's
mother disagrees and is also not happy about the
charges her daughter faces. Her attorney, Jackie
Patterson, also thinks she did nothing wrong.
"Absolutely nothing. Other than videoing the
incident, which she had an absolute right to do,"
Patterson said. Ciara Flemister said she's now
afraid of officers. Her attorney is exploring a
lawsuit. The police chief said the two officers are
good employees who made bad decisions.

Former South West DeKalb High School Teacher
Acquitted
- Nathan Grigsby was acquitted of all charges of
deprivation of a minor on March 31, 2010. Once Again
Defense attorney Jackie Patterson, achieved victory
for his client, who underwent trial in association
with an incident in his classroom back in 2008.
Grigsby's former students fallegedly participated in
inappropriate dancing in the classroom, which
eventually brought about the charges. Those same
students came to the defense of their former
teacher, along with many other attesting to his
strong character. In addition, as Jackie Patterson
pointed out, "The state simply did not prove their
case".

County looks to retry case of woman who hit,
killed child
- The DeKalb County solicitor general is calling a
decision to overturn the conviction of a woman who
hit and killed a child troubling. On Feb. 2, 2009,
Shirley Ogilvie hit Dunmore on Deshon Road even
though a crossing guard with a stop sign had ordered
traffic to stop for the boy. Ogilvie was convicted
of vehicular homicide, but just last week, an
appeals court overturned it. "The ruling cites an
error by the judge as the reason for reversing the
judgment," Jackie Patterson said. "On the grounds
that the judge violated her rights by not giving the
jury the option of ruling that this was an
accident."

Investigation finds Atlanta breaking red light
camera law
- An exclusive CBS Atlanta investigation exposed the
City of Atlanta for not properly notifying alleged
violators caught by cameras while running red lights
at seven different intersections. Traffic law
attorney Jackie Patterson said the City of Atlanta
may be hurting the credit worthiness of thousands of
drivers. "When you get something that negatively
effects your credit, that can last for a very long
time, "Patterson said. He pointed out that it can
affect a person's ability to buy a house or
automobile and can impact the interest rates they
can obtain.
